Fauci: US should consider vaccine mandate for US air travel

(AP) — Dr Anthony Fauci, the top US infectious disease expert, said Monday the nation should consider a vaccination mandate for domestic air travel, signalling a potential embrace of an idea the Biden administration has previously eschewed, as COVID-19 cases spike.

Fauci, President Joe Biden’s chief science adviser on the pandemic response, said such a mandate might drive up the nation’s lagging vaccination rate as well as confer stronger protection on flights, for which federal regulations require all those age 2 and older to wear a mask.

“When you make vaccination a requirement, that’s another incentive to get more people vaccinated,” Fauci told MSNBC. “If you want to do that with domestic flights, I think that’s something that seriously should be considered.”

The Biden administration has thus far balked at imposing a vaccination requirement for domestic air travel. Two officials said Biden’s science advisers have yet to make a formal recommendation for such a requirement to the president.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, said a vaccine mandate on planes could trigger a host of logistical and legal concerns.

The US currently mandates that most foreign nationals travelling to the US be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, though citizens and permanent residents only need to show proof of a negative test taken within a day of boarding.

Federal rules don’t require people travelling by air within the US to show a negative test. Hawaii requires travellers to test or show proof of vaccination to avoid a mandatory quarantine.

  1. Fraudci please answer the following:
    – if the dominant strain is weaker then why focus on cases instead deaths?
    – if both vaxxed and unvaxxed can contract and transmit, how is the vax supposed to stop the spread?
    – if the vax works against Omicron then why all the panic? If it doesn’t then why take boosters?
    – why to this day is ‘science’ ignoring the immense benefits of some of the most common and safest medicines available?
    – why is the answer always something experimental, expensive or excessive?
    – how many people have actually caught COVID on a plane (which has better ventilation filtration than an ICU) anyway?
    – if the CDC has no record of naturally immune people getting reinfected then why no exemption for such persons?
    – if the shot is so great then why do you have to force health care workers and millitary to take it? Shouldn’t they be first in line?

    • A few more:
      – If you financed the virus, why should we trust you now?
      – when are we going to get a look at the data Pfizer submitted to the FDA?
      – why is the US so interested in spending money in the Caribbean when pre-COVID we couldn’t even get a scholarship?
      – why are the highly superior Cuban vaccines not acknowledged, and why did the US refuse a donation of vaccines by Cuba?

    • Very good questions for the fraudster. Within the last week, I personally know at least 12 people who caught the virus and more than half of them are fully vaccinated. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated have very similar symptoms. It is all a lie. I wish people would use their brain and stop swallowing everything The fraudster is saying. First, they said if you take the vaccine you cannot contract or transmit COVID, when that didn’t work, they talked about breakthrough cases, when everybody and their mother caught the virus, all of a sudden it was to prevent severe sickness. Now people must take booster that significantly wains after 10 weeks according to the CDC. That’s a setup for the second booster. Let us unite and say no to the booster. Enough lies and control.
