A man has been sentenced to 22 years and 8 months in prison for raping his daughter.
He pleaded guilty to four counts of incest that took place between 2014 and 2015, resulting in the victim becoming pregnant at 15.
The abuse began when she was 11 years old.
Justice Ann Marie Smith handed down the sentence, with two of the counts running consecutively. His time on remand will be deducted from the sentence.

Did this man get the full brunt of the law. There should be no mercy for him. Engaging in incest & statute rape should result in him being locked up and the key been thrown away. It appears the judge was too lenient with him.
The father’s name can not be revealed, not for his benefit but to protect the child’s identity. That is a stigma that will follow her all her life so we gotta protect her. He should have gotten a longer sentence if you asked me.

I understand his name is not being printed because they are protecting the victim….. His sentence shouldn’t have no time deducted because he was in jail while case was going on. He should get 20 for Rape and another 30 for breaking the innocence of your own child.

The man pled guilty so he had to receive a discount. Judge did the right thing thing making two counts run concurrently to reflect the seriousness of the offence. Let’s see if he appeals.
