Keithanya Elvin from Gunthorpes faces charges of dangerous driving resulting in the death of 16-year-old Azorae Pennant.
The incident, which occurred on January 26, 2022, involved Elvin attempting a right turn in her Honda CRV on Tyrells Main Road.
Azorae Pennant, traveling north on his bicycle, swerved to avoid a collision but tragically collided with Elvin’s vehicle, then thrown into the path of a pickup truck.
The teenager suffered severe injuries and was quickly taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead approximately an hour later.
After a two-year wait for the completion of the case file, Elvin has been notified that there is substantial evidence against her, leading to the decision to transfer the case from the Magistrates’ Court to a higher court, where it will be presented before a High Court Judge.
