Farmer Registration Process Continues……… by Carol-Faye Bynoe-George and Shenequa Williams (MOA)

The farmer identification card registration process in Antigua and Barbuda continues to retain the momentum. This process is the preparatory phase for the issuance of the farmer’s identification cards.

The registration activities will continue to focus on other batches of crop and livestock farmers for this and coming weeks of similar exercises are following the sequential approach established during the last week of June.

Farmers from various districts, who have been recommended by their district extension officers and other interested producers are actively participating in the process. This ongoing registration effort aims to systematically include all bona fide producers, ensuring a comprehensive national farmers database and registry.

Farmers are encouraged to reach out to their district officers or the Agricultural Extension Division for information on how to register and learn the benefits of obtaining their identification cards.

“We want to ensure the farming community that this initiative is not a ruse, but simply an official proof of identity to allow for better planning and management of support services and incentives offered by the Minister of Agriculture”, expressed Mr. Ika Fergus, Extension Officer.

As the registration continues, the Ministry of Agriculture remains committed to supporting the agricultural community by enhancing the sector’s growth and development as one of the methods in securing food availability and safety for the Nation’s consumption.
