Excessive Heat Watch for Antigua and Barbuda

An Excessive Heat Watch is now in effect for Antigua and Barbuda, with expected heat index values (feels-like temperature) of 38°C (100°F) or higher. This watch will be in place from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily until Wednesday, as conditions remain favorable for dangerously hot temperatures due to light winds and high humidity.
Sensitive groups, including the elderly, young children, individuals with chronic illnesses, and those who work or exercise outdoors, should take extra precautions. Health risks, such as heat stroke and exhaustion, can escalate, potentially leading to long-term health problems or death.
If symptoms of heat illness are present, such as dizziness, fainting, nausea, or rapid heartbeat, move to a cool place and hydrate. In the case of heat stroke, which includes confusion or loss of consciousness, call 911 immediately and cool the person down by applying water to their skin and fanning them.
Stay alert, hydrated, and keep an eye on vulnerable individuals. The public is advised to follow updates from the Meteorological Office via antiguamet.com or @abmetservice on social media.
