The GARD Center would like to inform the public that we have been devastated by a break-in that took place over the weekend where EVERYTHING was stolen.
We are here to support the vulnerable and provide training so that these folks are able to create a sustainable livelihood to support themselves and their families.
But we have been devastated by a break-in where all the training equipment and support equipment has been stolen.
Our chefs kitchen was ravaged and the stoves, freezers, fridges, mixers stolen.
Our ac units, water fountain, some tables were taken. Every door was destroyed.

Even our seedlings and locally made soaps were stolen.
However, we will build back we are determined to support the vulnerable and we know that our stakeholders will come out and support us in this building back process.
Everything here was earned through project grant funding and donations, and we will have to work even harder to rebuild but we will be better than ever.

Where is the useless AG? Time to update the laws for persons who rob churches and institutions of learning and healing to also include clinics. Heavy, jail time with manual labour. People that rob a place of learning like the GARD Centre have no heart, soul or conscience and serve no useful purpose. So get off your lazy, incompetent butt and bring the laws Cutie.

These are different days to those long gone by. Churches, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Gard Centre, Captain and Cook, no one is spared. Whether you are a voluntary organization or not, the thieves have no regard for you. That is why all business must be mindful of the times we are living in and put in place the necessary safety mechanisms and electronic monitoring. Have to be always on your P’s and Q’s these days.
There is an instrument known as an alarm system.There is also an instrument known as a camera.Why none of those instruments were not installed in that building? This has gone from the ridiculous to the sublime.Are any Government Buildings in Antigua have electronic securities on sites?
Less than a week ago it was announced that the GARD centre was offering classes to prison inmates. That could have made the centre vulnerable. Many of these guys are experienced thieves, and may have passed information on to friends who are not incarcerated.
This is sooo devastating 🙁
This institution is not a government entity. Is is run mostly by grants and contributions. Instead of trying to bash, why not donate said alarms and cameras to the GARD Centre?
