Eligible citizens from Antigua and Barbuda now qualify for visa-free travel to Canada
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (Tuesday, June 6, 2023) — As a CARICOM (Caribbean Community) and fellow Commonwealth member, Antigua and Barbuda is an important partner for Canada.
Both countries share strong cultural and people-to-people ties, and Canada recognizes the importance of expanding and simplifying travel between our countries.
Canada is pleased to announce the addition of Antigua and Barbuda to the electronic travel authorization (eTA) program.
Citizens from Antigua and Barbuda who have either held a Canadian visa in the last 10 years or who currently hold a valid United States non-immigrant visa can now apply for an eTA, instead of a visa, when travelling to Canada by air.
Introducing visa-free air travel will make it faster, easier and more affordable for thousands of travellers from Antigua and Barbuda to visit Canada for up to six (6) months for either business or leisure.
It will also help facilitate more travel, tourism and international business between our countries, and help strengthen people-to-people and cultural ties.
This decision complements our existing mobility measures for Antigua and Barbuda, like the Student Direct Stream, which offers expedited study permit processing to those who are applying to study in Canada.
Individuals who already have a valid visa can continue to use it to travel to Canada. Those
who are not eligible for an eTA, or who are travelling to Canada by means other than air
(for example, by car, bus, train and boat—including by cruise ship), will still need a visitor
visa. Travellers can visit Canada.ca/etA to find out if they are eligible for an eTA and how
to apply for one.

Quick facts:
- The eTA is a digital travel document that most visa-exempt travellers need to travel to or transit through Canada by air.
- The eTA application is used by Canadian officials to conduct light-touch, pre-travel screening of air travellers. It costs CAN$7 to apply, and most applications are automatically approved within minutes.
- To apply for an eTA, travellers need only a valid passport, a credit card, an email address and access to the Internet.
- Antigua and Barbuda is one of the 13 additional countries whose eligible citizens may now benefit from visa-free travel.
- Over the last 10 years, Canada issued 5,980 temporary resident visas to citizens from Antigua and Barbuda. These individuals, along with current US non-immigrant visa holders, may now be eligible for visa-free travel.

This is way to easy, What’s the catch? Do you need to be vax before writing the form or after filling the form? Not interested what Canada is selling because I’m not giving up sovereignty for nothing. I’ve seen too many of these bribe too many times. Why don’t they say free water, light and food for a month. They must Tek ppl for fool and I won’t be one, the nuff ones can take it, our own country selling us out slowly and people can’t see it.
If you do not have a USA visa or have not in the last 10 years had a Canada visa, you still need to apply for a Canada visa. This only benefits those who already hold a USA or Canada visa.
Agreed! If you’re not one of the chosen few with existing visa, no chance of entering . So how can they announce Visa free travel for Antiguans with such broad brush. Why not wait until it’s totally visa free as it were in the past.
In other words, Canada is protecting the USA border.

Hey. Hold on here. This is in no way comparable to Antiguans and Barbudans being able to enter Canada with only their passport. I have done that several times in the past without hassle. Now, you must have a Canadian Visa in the last 10 years or a US visa to be eligible. This is really not that big of a deal to most citizens.
ALP has done absolutely nothing in the past 10 years that is worth mentioning, so any glimmer they will cling to for relevance. Chet Green was given Agriculture. What has he done so far.
