An 11-year-old became the youngest-ever scorer in the seventeen-year history of the Warriors Cup, but that’s just part of a fascinating story which unfolded in a rain-soaked contest before Sea View Farm prevailed in the dying stages.

If a game was to be defined by the fine margins, well this was one of them on Friday night at the Radio Range Playing Field on All Saints Rd, Ottos.

What a game which was only decided in the last five minutes of added – after Sea View Farm were coasting to what appeared a comfortable win with 25 minutes to go, leading 2-0.

But Young Warriors managed to storm back to make it 2-2 after 65 minutes and then 3-3 going into time added on.

There was more drama when Warriors’ guest player Jose ‘Naymar’ Arias had a penalty saved by SVF goalkeeper Omarie Greenway with Farm leading 3-2 with five minutes to go.

Nevertheless, twin-brother Nile Lee, who celebrated his 11th birthday in January, equalized for Warriors in the 90th minute when he latched onto a deflected free-kick to steer past a bemused Greenway.

However, SVF rallied and substitute Rhezal Gomes netted his second goal in the second minute of added time to earn his team the three points as they join Garden Stars and Master Ballerz at the top of the standings.

Before the late drama materialized, Azari Edwards on 25 minutes and Joseph Lyne 10 minutes after half-time to put Farm 2-0 ahead.

But within 10 minutes, Warriors were level when Andre Ephraim and national youth player Zaheim Greene pounced to reduce the deficit after 76 minutes.

A minute later, Gomes put SVF back in the lead before Arias watched his tame spot-kick saved.

Then Lee – part of a fast-tracked development programme organized by the Warriors Academy for the upcoming ABFA season – defied his tender age and slim-built to manouvere between the Farm defender to latch onto a high deflection to steer into the goal.

Lee’s wide-eyed celebrations and congratulated by his teammates and the spectators on show.

But Gomes stole the pre-teen’s delight when he scrambled the clincher after some slack defending by Warriors.
