Eight to compete for Miss Antigua & Barbuda title

The journey to the throne has started for eight young ladies who will compete for the title of Miss Antigua & Barbuda on June 25, 2017.

Rohanna Smith, Linkya Lee, Shaquan Yorke, Affianna Rodney, Tonya Williams, Ayana Dorsette, Daniel Fabian, and Odelia Deazle are the contestants who will appear in the order listed.

They were officially presented to the media and members of the public at brief launching at Copper and Lumber Restaurant  tonight.

Adorned in matching white dresses, the ladies all committed to doing their best to win the grand prize of a brand new Sang Yong Corando from Harney Motors and ACE Enterprises.

Vanda Neil-Gardner the pageant chairman said “Reclaiming Our Pride”, the theme for this year’s pageant, is about a celebration of the arts.

She said the concept for this year’s pageant is “original” adding, “this year we are showing off.”

“We are boasting of our pageant product by making our effort a Caribbean brand through engaging region media,” Neil-Gardner announced.

Chairman of Carnival Maurice Merchant told the girls that they have taken on the duties of diplomats for Antigua & Barbuda.

“You are also auditioning to be the face of Antigua & Barbuda. Your role is one of great importance,” he said.

The competition will be held at the Antigua Recreation Grounds where they young lady who will replace Leanda Norville will be crowned.
