  1. And a lot more than 6 deaths

Hey Antigua Newsroom editor, please do a comparison of numbers of deaths in 2020 compared to previous years

      • Because your months-long campaign to minimize how dangerous a disease that’s killing thousands a day is only making you look stupid.

But if you want my rough, rough estimate, I would say around 3600 positive cases in Antigua and growing.

However, we cannot really know how many there are because the government is purposefully undertesting and manipulating numbers.

    • The world figures are not accurate so how do you expect Antigua to have accurate numbers. To get accurate numbers the entire population has to be tested.

      • All they would have to do is test a representative sample in the community on a regular basis.

Instead they are purposefully ARTIFICIALLY keeping the numbers low to keep the tourists coming.

And oh yeah, test everyone that enters the country on arrival.

        • Inferential stats must take into account a sudden change in value… Negative tonight then positive tomorrow morning …

  2. Can we get some more infos on who these people are ? All the other islands are communicating way better with the public !

    • There’s a reason this one has been so shady about how this pandemic has been (mis)managed.

In the end though there will be an excess mortality rate calculated and the true (huge) impact of this disease and the mismanagement of it will come to light.

And unfortunately, there will be many people dealing with disease sequelae for decades to come. People who were never tested or treated earlier but nevertheless were infected

  3. I am listening to the VOP (911) and trust me this budding politician is as deceitful and misleading as they come. He seemingly has the attribute of a politician.

  4. And so it begins. We have been warning the government about allowing tourists in from hotspots for months. It has been only the local population’s vigilance and willingness to adhere to safety protocols that has prevented a major outbreak until now. Unfortunately the local population can only fight against the government’s policies, and the the hoteliers behind them, for only so long and now we are starting to see the results.

  5. The covidiots really come in like mosqutio after rain. To Mr Arnold not everybkdy work fu government nor are they born wid one silver spoon in dem mouth. There are people who depend pan tourist fu mek dem living. Aru who ah walk ah talk bout lock down really phucking badminded.

  6. I have a problem that they keep blaming returning
nationals. The positive cases in the yachting sector is sky-rocking, and hotel guest are being tested with positive results. SMH

  7. We are still doing better than most countries. Please follow covid-19 protocols and most of us will be ok. I believe it will get better when get warmer.

  8. For the Covididiots out there who can barely write and definitely cannot read. Grenada has had 132 cases, St Vincent 340, Dominica 109 and St Kitts 34 but Antigua’s 184 is too phucking low because they are hiding and not testing??????

I can understand the Blue Cool Aid drinkers pushing this for political mileage but the stupidity, ignorance and paranoia displayed by others is mind boggling! Stop watching CNN and read a book to help raise your IQs!

    • Antigua lets any and all tourists in and never quarantines or tests them

Yeah, the numbers don’t add up.

Also, those other islands may be fudging their numbers as well since they also rely on tourism. But one thing is for sure they all have more sensible protocols.

      • Do you live on the other islands to know what their protocals are like? I’m pretty sure the other islands take in the same tourist that we do! Some of you so love to be negative and always have the worst to say about the land of your birth. Y’all sickening now!

        • So far I haven’t heard of any other place with illogical and discriminatory protocols like Antigua has

And to top it off even the woefully inadequate protocols in place in Antigua are not followed by many people.

Let’s start with the returning nationals/residence of Jolly Harbour, English Harbour who fly in on their US or UK passports so they don’t have to quarantine.

And the people all over town and in all the shops and on all the streets with their masks below their noses or under their chins.

And the returning US medical students who live on island for most of the year but are told they don’t have to quarantine when they arrive back from the states.

Tourists not wearing masks on hotel grounds.

Tourists not being tested or quarantined.

Sick people not being tested and going back to work after 1 or 2 days.

          Just madness

          • You don’t live in the other islands so you don’t know. The media only reports half the story. So you making half assed assumptions about the other islands protocals makes you look like a damn fool.

  9. Antigua does not.

Quarantining only returning nationals but not tourists does not make sense.

Letting people in with a negative test up to 7 days earlier makes no sense especially when even the PM admitted that some of these tests are falsified.

Testing EVERYONE on arrival and Barbados does makes sense. Quarantining EVERYBODY at least until they have a 2nd negative test makes sense.

But treating arriving people (all potential disease vectors) differently based on which passport they hold (or based on the color of their skin) is illogical and discriminatory and ridiculous. But most of all it doesn’t protect the island folk from COVID.

You don’t have to live in a particular place to analyze their policies and procedures. We study history and current events of many countries around the world that we don’t live in. Please don’t be a nincompoop your whole life.
