Educator suggests letting unvaccinated teachers teach unvaccinated pupils

Dear Mr. Prime Minister,

As an educator who has seen first-hand how ‘destructive’ it is when a child is not educated, I’d like to suggest a possible option re the reopening of schools, specifically for secondary schools.

Let the unvaccinated teachers teach the unvaccinated students and run the school plants on a shift system (as done last year) to rotate the said students and teachers with those who are vaccinated. Have them alternate.

Or designate specific school plants for the unvaccinated teachers and students but most of all please reconsider mandating vaccines for these students and depriving them of an education which they have a right to.

One may argue that the teachers who are vaccinated do not equate to those who are not due to their various subject areas (in the case of subject teaching) but I’m sure it is the same the other way around.

Since the schools should have qualifications information of all teachers, with some careful planning it can work on both ends.

I make this plea so as to offer another way, so that we do not end up with students out of school. The direct result of mental health repercussions and what it can lead to, in the very near future depends on it.

I know this may not encourage your vaccine mandate plan but sir we owe it to these students and to ourselves.

  1. I agree with that suggestion to have unvaccinated teachers teach unvaccinated students. It’s a totally fair and common sense decision, in fact it’s brilliant. That way, no student is left behind which is what the government should have considered.

  2. So if you one of the Children get infected and die. Who do you blame? It’s like you run from to r rains and run to the fire. This Virus is seriously deadly and you can’t play Russian roulette with our innocent Children. It’s like saying every law that is on the books like rapping someone if you don’t like it, commit the act and you are free to live in another area of Wadadli. This Virus is spread by close contact and vaccines have always prevented serious illnesses and deaths in majority of the infected. You chance of survival is 11 times better if you are vaccinated than those who are not. Choose one… but let the innocent Children get vaccinated. You are responsible for protecting them as responsible adults. Selfish desires and ignorance will not help them in a callous environment. George Orwell says that, Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable. If we are so called educated people, knows better we must do better.

    • Let’s discuss this rationally… Unvaccinated teachers are not anymore likely than vaccinated teachers to have or spread Covid. Thus far, studies also show that children are still very very highly unlikely to die from Covid. Also, most children pick up illnesses from their own families and friends because of close contact not particularly from teachers. So, the risk to the children in the classroom would not really be any greater than it would be in their communities. So, all this talk about teachers being vaccinated to protect children is based on fear not facts.

You can argue that there are risks to students associated with taking crowded transportation to school, risks from hanging about town to and from school, risks from playing closely with friends (if allowed) at school etc. But, unvaccinated teachers are not a greater risk to students than vaccinated teachers. So, please stop daemonising them.

Unvaccinated teachers would be heroically putting themselves at risk by choice in this situation, not the other way around.

If parents feel that their children are at risk, then they can opt for the vaccine. Clearly these families did not or could not for whatever reason. Each person’s situation is different though. So, instead of inhumane mandates, compromise would be good.

Online learning for these students and teachers with occasional spaced out visits to the school to work on SBAs or take final exams is one option.

Democratic government should be by the people, of the people and for the people. The Ministry technicians are there to advise the public not dictate. Politicians are there to carry out the will of the people not to dictate. So, if after considering all the available info and recommendations, a significant percentage of people favour other interventions and methods apart from vaccination, it is the duty of politicians to implement alternatives to accomodate them, not just to mandate or dictate.

      • All the available data makes clear your are wrong (see our unvaccinated friend is roughly 20 times more likely to give you COVID
October 27, Thecoversation). The unvaccinated spread covid more than the vaccinated. Even when infected the vaccinated have lower viral load than the unvaccinated. We have a solution via vaccines to seriously reduce the risk of serious illness or death, why jump offer a proverbial cliff?

    • It’s not a bad idea…

Unvaccinated teachers are not any more likely than vaccinated teachers to have Covid or spread it to students.
Also, students are more likely to get Covid from friends and family than from teachers.

Maybe the unvaccinated students can be educated online by the unvaccinated teachers and just go in occasionally to do SBAs or write final exams spaced out.

Government should be by the people, of the people and for the people. So, if a lot of people need this service then it should be provided…

      • @Just a thought…it’s more than “just a thought” regarding Online/#Virtual Education Learning.
This is an idea whose time has come, and MUST be properly designed, developed, implemented, managed and tweaked due to the #Fluid Nature of learning today.
It’s paramount, that the Education department use this opportunity, to not only test prototypes for learning from kindergarten to university!
#Virtual #Learning Classrooms are here to stay and must be properly phased into the “face to face” classrooms.
To those who are concerned about the physical interactions, the stress due to lack of physical contact, comradeship, etc., all these things stays, while incorporating #virtual #learning as a sport, where EVERYONE is a star, due to the fact, virtual reality has something for all from Brain Surgeons to Engineers to Scientists to musicians to geeks to excel at.

The problem which the Education department is having is in a nutshell, they don’t have the necessary equipments, and services to manage and maintain ONLINE LEARNING, therefore, the politics of COVID-19 trumps what should be proper planning, on how to educate the population, in the #New #Norm.

    • Yes Bullombo, we all know you only talk the straight facts. We pushing your BEHIND as always. That’s just the way you like it. Pucker those lips now and smile while you getting jammed.

    • And vaccinated spread to vaccinated so what’s the difference? The only risk is to them and both groups chose to take the risk of remaining unvaccinated.

Since the numbers would be few, they might be more spaced out than the vaccinated; so less chance of spread…

      Online is also an option…

Why does it bother you anyway? Both groups chose to be unvaccinated. So, it’s at their own risk. And, they would be far away from you as you prefer. They would be happy. You would be happy. Win-win for everyone.
