Two seismic events were detected near Guadeloupe, Antigua and Barbuda, and Montserrat during the overnight and early morning hours. The UWI Seismic Research Center (UWI SRC) reported a 4.1 magnitude earthquake occurring at approximately 1:16 am local time, with a depth of 10 km. The Automatic Earthquake Location data from UWI SRC indicates the following locations for the quake:
- Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe: 121 km, NE
- Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda: 141 km, ESE
- Brades, Montserrat: 177 km, E
Additionally, on Sunday night, another seismic event of 4.7 magnitude was recorded in the vicinity of the same three islands. UWI SRC noted that this earthquake took place around 10:34 pm local time, with a depth of 10 km. The Automatic Earthquake Location data specified the following locations for this event:
- Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe: 115 km, NE
- Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda: 138 km, ESE
- Brades, Montserrat: 173 km, E
In the previous week, multiple earthquakes were also documented in the Caribbean region.
