Thanks to COVID-19, visitors to Antigua & Barbuda may not longer have to fill in and present a physical immigration/customs form on arrival at ports of entry.

According to the Cabinet, an e-form is likely to be required of everyone traveling to Antigua, replacing the E/D cards which are now filled-out by all persons entering.

The e-form will be inputted at the embarkation point and the information transmitted to V.C. Bird International; the contact with Immigration and Customs will be severely limited.

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States have been discussing this improvement for years, but governments have been slow to implement it. It has not been come necessary to fast-track this measure because of COVID-19.

The cards have been described and long and annoying and many international airports discontinued their use many years ago.

Meantime, a technologically-advanced camera will measure each disembarking passenger’s body temperature; those whose temperature exceed normal will be tested at the airport, not at their hotels.

Sniffer dogs at the airport will determine if any unlawful substance is packed in the baggage rather than the customary physical search.
