Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne has appointed Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party candidate in the recently held by-election in the St. Mary’s South constituency Dwayne George as Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Corporate Governance and Public Private Partnerships.
Dwayne Georg, who was a former senator before the recently held by-election lost to the Opposition United Progressive candidate Kelvin Simon, however Prime Minister Browne said that with only a few short months of being selected as his party’s candidate, his performance in the by-election was phenomenal and his party celebrates what he was able to achieve.
“Senator George has demonstrated that he has the ability to produce for the people and he is highly qualified to take up the position of Minister of State in the Finance Ministry. We look forward to working with him in this new capacity,” said Prime Minister Browne.
Dwayne George will be sworn in at Government House at 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon by Governor General Sir Rodney Williams.

I do agree to reward him for making himself available to run on an ABLP ticket. Afterall he had to resign his job and as a young men now needs to be given a job to secure an income. And yet the ruling party has the authority to use the countries purse for this purpose. I mean George Wenner was made driver for the former PM Baldwin Spencer and earns about five thousand dollars. That to me was a gross abuse of public purse. At least that money could have been income for a young un-employed man or woman. But you guys never will criticize that. When UPP was in power they rewarded many stalwarts with jobs. Even the speaker of the house had three government jobs. My only concern as a financial person and one that knows much about economics and economic principals, is that Dwayne is not experience enough to go and work in that ministry as a Junior Minister. Rosona will eat him up. Lennox Weston would have been a much better choice. He is the most experience person to lead that ministry.
