Antigua and Barbuda’s Dwayne Fleming has become the nation’s first qualifier for the 2025 Carifta Games. The 2022 Carifta 100m gold medalist opened his indoor season with a personal best of 48.37 seconds in the 400m at the Wagner College Invitational in New York, surpassing the U20 boys’ Carifta standard of 48.70. Fleming, a Monroe College student, will compete in Trinidad over Easter weekend.
Kettia Ambrose, formerly of Princess Margaret School, impressed in the women’s 500m with a winning time of 1:17.81. Cleon Joseph, a first-time indoor competitor and Clarehall Secondary alumnus, placed fifth in the men’s 400m with 52.39 seconds.
