Duffield Destin admits to unlawfully confining a 12-year-old girl

Duffield Destin faces potential imprisonment after confessing to unlawfully confining a 12-year-old girl, pleading guilty before Justice Ann-Marie Smith, who could impose a maximum seven-year sentence.

The incident occurred on October 12, 2021, as a woman arranged for her daughter to visit her sister.

Caught in the rain on her way to meet her aunt, the girl sought shelter in a shop.

As she waited for her aunt, a parked car’s engine running nearby, the 42-year-old defendant, seized her, threatening harm if she spoke of the incident. Despite resistance, she couldn’t free herself.

A passerby intervened as the girl’s struggles became apparent, and upon questioning, Destin falsely claimed she ran away.

The Good Samaritan freed her, prompting the accused to threaten him before speeding away. The girl reported the incident to her mother, leading to police involvement.

Destin, arraigned in the High Court, attributed his actions to frustration in searching for a debtor.

He claimed to have sought someone owing him $10,000 for months, deciding to investigate a property linked to the debtor’s family.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 27, the court weighing the gravity of his actions.

  3. This seems to be a frequent occurance. I have heard of many instances of these things happening to teenage girls walking by themselves. Shame and disgrace. Who is protecting our young black girls. On the other hand, I saw countless teenagers, scantily dresses, walking home from the Tokyo car show at the stadium. Ten and eleven o’clock. Something is wrong there. No parents? Older brother or sister to transport of accompany them?
