Donalee Salmon, 23, who escaped from a detention center in Antigua with fellow Jamaican national Tiffanie Stephanie Howell, 30, on January 20, has been sentenced to 7 months and 2 weeks in prison.
Unlike Howell, Salmon evaded authorities for over a week and received an additional two weeks for not surrendering promptly.
They were detained after being flagged by immigration with one-way tickets and escaped by breaking a window.
Howell surrendered on Sunday, pleaded guilty, and received a 7-month sentence on Tuesday. Salmon was captured on Tuesday in Crosbies and was sentenced today.

I want to rewrite the laws. In this situation, we are going to send her to prison and tax payers will feed her for 7 months. Then more than likely, we will deport her.
My new law, we going to charge her 3,000 to 5000 plus expenses incurred and deport then deport her. Next case please!
Look, I’m not condoning these ladies actions by breaking out of detention, but this administration is also at fault as well.
They are partially responsible for what happened here, and in previous cases (the Indians and the Haitians, and where are the Africans who came in by the numbers?).
Rather than always dancing aboard, Gatson Browne should be working and spending money on his weak, broken immigration system.
One, if you are going to detain someone, please have the proper facilities o house these people in a humane and secured way, and not having them just break a window and escape into the night.
If these girls are criminals as they suggested, someone could have gotten hurt in their desperate efforts to flea the authorities, and who would be to blame then?
Now you jail them in a poorly run, dilapidated, unsecured prison, only for them to have the opportunity to escape again and repeat this craziness all over again.. so why not get it right the first time, and have these measures in place before you go about enforcing laws.
Spend the peoples money on their security Gatson, that’s what they put you in power to do, to make them feel secure in their own country.
But then again, why am I holding my breath with this failed inept administration?
