Dominican Tipped To Become New Psychiatrist For Antigua and Barbuda

1

Source: Dominica News Online- Dr. Griffin Benjamin, a highly respected psychiatrist from Dominica, has arrived in Antigua and Barbuda to discuss with the government the possibility of leading the Clarevue Psychiatric Hospital.

Dr. Benjamin has been approached by the Antiguan government for this significant role and has expressed a strong interest in it.

Having worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in his home country for many years, Dr. Benjamin also has previous experience in Antigua and Barbuda and currently maintains an office in St. John’s. If negotiations are successful, he intends to assume the position.

Dr. Benjamin is also involved in providing psychiatric and mental health services to students at the Ross University School of Medicine in Barbados.

The potential appointment comes at a challenging time for the Clarevue Psychiatric Hospital, which is grappling with issues such as deteriorating infrastructure, disheartened staff, and a lawsuit related to the death of a patient.

If Dr. Benjamin accepts the position, he will step into this challenging role after the early retirement of Dr. James King.
