The family of Kevin Millet Junior, a missing teenager, has provided DNA samples to assist in identifying a body discovered near the Diamonds Estate.
The body, partially decomposed, was found close to where Millet’s rented car was burned three months ago.
Authorities have informed the distraught family to prepare for the worst. Clothing found with the body is believed to belong to Millet.
Investigations are ongoing, and the police cannot officially determine the identity without proper forensic examination.
The case parallels that of Shamar Harrigan, a missing autistic teen whose family is still awaiting confirmation regarding a body found six months ago.
These cases highlight the need for Antigua and Barbuda to establish its own forensics lab to expedite DNA analysis.
Public Safety Minister Steadroy Benjamin has reported progress in plans to establish a local lab within a month. SOURCE: OBSERVER
