The Halo Foundation recently donated EC$25,000 to Sailability, a program operating out of the National Sailing Academy facility and dealing specifically with the disabled population in Antigua and Barbuda.

President and Founder of Halo, Lady Williams, said: “There are two charities under our umbrella which concern themselves solely with the disabled. Sailability is one of those. We are continuously seeking to support their efforts in any way possible.  We have also been engaged in helping physically and mentally challenged individuals in the community, with a demonstrated need for assistance”.

The Halo Foundation will be hosting the “I Am Able” conference closing reception on December 6.  According to a recent report, the conference (organized jointly by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Social Transformation in conjunction with the Antigua and Barbuda High Commission and the Commonwealth Youth Council)  “will seek to address the marginalization and discrimination of persons with disabilities (PWD) and to offer solutions that will breathe life and momentum into the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities” (CRPD).”
