Delays in Alfa Nero Sale Amidst Legal Battles and Court Involvement

5

CABINET NOTES – Antigua’s Cabinet discussed the ongoing delays in finalizing the sale of the vessel, Alfa Nero, to Mr. Schmidt.

The government is facing several lawsuits that have stalled the transfer.

Until the courts resolve the matters, the payment and transfer will remain on hold, leaving the government as the current owner.

  1. Pirates of the Caribbean….😜
Certain law firms have to get their cut ($$$) from the Russian billionaire before the government gets theirs.
There is NO WAY that the Russian is going to win this case in an Antiguan court. 🦘🦘🦘

  2. The Government ownership is being contested, so the statement “leaving the Government as the owner is not quite true.

The Government has charges against the boat, and in the absence of response to public notices; the Government can place a liens against the boat.
At some point when the charges are much more significant than they are now; the Government can then foreclose the liens.
Once the liens are foreclosed on, that’s the point at which the Government can put the boat up for sale or scrap the property.
The so called “Luminaries” and the dumb, deft, and blind fraternity are just waiting for their pay day; if you know what I mean.

  3. The haste at which we undertook to sieze and sell this yacht might just be coming back to haunt us now. Though the yacht was on a sanctioned list because of who the owner is, the yacht was never really abandoned as claimed. There was always a crew on board and they were left there with the sole purpose of securing and caring for the yacht until all the issues was worked out. We amended our marine laws and huffed the yacht. That is not abandonment. If I go abroad and leave some family members or even friends to stay and care for my house in Swetes, can it be said that I abandoned my house? The haste at which we approached this issue is now coming back to bite us now and is costing us much more than we initially bargained for. And all these legal shenanigans must be turning off the folks who initially placed bids on it.

  4. ONE THOUGHT OR TWO
“Top of the morning to you” with Green Tea, Winston Southwell!
You continue to evoke interesting thoughts and perspectives, now the lien issue. As we wait for Court decisions, we know this: The Trust in Flying Dutchman Ltd. for the sole benefit of Yulia Guryev-Motlokhov and A&B’s claim of ownership by eminent domain are the legal central issues. But USA’s direct involvement and directives are also central.
‘Our’ Alfa Nero superyacht was sanctioned and held here on USA’s instructions. Even with our eminent domain law (you addressed that before) that was passed, we still sought USA’s ‘approval, permission, instruction’ to sell and transfer title of ownership. Now we are trying to offer an indemnity to the buyer.
In all of this are we acting as an alternate, on behalf of USA and if so will they use all their available resources whether we win, lose, negotiate a settlement? You know that money Is the driving force in all of this!
    Your thoughts (everybody’s) on this!

  5. If the so call owner win that case against the government, the government should ask then to remove the yacht from Antigua forthwith. They didn’t ask Antigua to pay anybody or crew for them. They too fast
