Dear Editor,
Yesterday, I bought my last Daily Observer. I have remained loyal to the paper for years even though it is the most over-priced publication in the Western Hemisphere.
Why may you ask? Well, my concern isn’t over the inaccuracies that sometimes pop up and the glaring errors that make it cringe, surprisingly, I have been able to live with those.
But I spent my last EC$3.00 yesterday because it would appear that the Daily Observer has taken a policy to put all its news online in the day.
So, the reality is there is nothing in the paper for me to read. I noticed this in the last three weeks but continued buying the paper anyway but now it doesn’t make sense. Things are too hard for me to be spending that amount of money daily to get staleness.
Now I know the company has been under some pressure lately for fake news and misinformation but I’m not getting into that.
Some say this change of policy has been influenced by your presence Antigua News Room but I’m not getting into that.
I am simply saying that if the same news is online, why do I have to buy the paper?
Oh and I’m only telling you this because from experience I know they won’t publish it.
