TEENAGER, MOTHER APPEAR IN COURT FOLLOWING FATAL CRASH

The 19-year-old woman who police say caused 18-year-old Keane Gregoire’s death has received bail in the amount of $100,000 with a $20,000 cash component.

Investigators say La-Shanti Cooper drove without a driver’s licence and insurance when she crashed her mother’s Gray Toyota bB in a concrete column around 2am on May 18.
Gregoire, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre early the next day, after sustaining severe injuries from the crash.

Cooper, who only had a Learner’s Permit is facing several charges, including Causing Death by Dangerous Driving and Driving without a valid Driver’s Licence and Insurance.
She also faces charges for failing to comply with requirements of her permit.

Magistrate Walsh has placed the teenager on a 6pm curfew and ordered her to report to a police station every day.

Meanwhile, Cooper’s mother, Tulip Horsford, is facing charges for permitting her daughter to drive her vehicle despite knowing she had no driver’s licence and would not be covered by the vehicle’s insurance.

Horsford, who is a police officer, is out on station bail.

EARLIER REPORT

The 19-year-old daughter of the policewoman, who was arrested and charged on May 30th, is now facing four charges in connection with the accident that resulted in the death of a young man.

According to reports, the charges against the unnamed 19-year-old include causing death by dangerous driving, driving without a license, driving without insurance, and perverting the course of justice.

The mother, who is a law enforcement officer, has also been charged with perverting the course of justice. It is alleged that both women provided misleading information about the accident to the police.

Additionally, sources have revealed that the inquest into the death of 18-year-old Keane Gregoire, who passed away following the accident on May 18th, took place on the same day.

According to these sources, it appeared that Gregoire was asleep at the time of the impact as his seat was in a reclined position and he was still wearing his seatbelt when rescued from the wreckage.

During the inquest, Gregoire’s father, who identified his son’s body, reportedly collapsed and wept, as Keane was his only son.

Meanwhile, Corporal Tulip Horsford, an officer with over 20 years of experience, has been charged with allowing her daughter, who does not have a driver’s license, to drive her vehicle.

Previous reports stated that the car was traveling at a high speed when it skidded off All Saints Road and collided with a concrete column.

Initially, it was reported that the driver had fled the scene, leading the police to appeal to the public for information. However, it was later discovered that the driver had tried to pass herself off as a passenger in the vehicle.

  1. I never forget that no one is above the law, whether we are in position or not, we must obey the laws of the land

  2. Let’s be real. Ah lang time Tulip and dem bad. Watch up road house in April ah behave all big and bad nah.

  3. Does a Drivers Permit give the person to drive a 2 or 4 person buggy without a licenced driver? Does it allow them to drive after 6pm? We have been noticing many L plate buggies screaming around on the North side of Antigua day and night with no adult present. Can the police look into that?

  4. wow so they sit there let her drive wreckless with them knowing he dnt have liscence
an what kind of mother does that knowing Antigua rules sn regulations this is america where they having there kids drove without liscence an go Party
I for one no matter how much u can drive your not gonna speed with me like we have extra lives not me u either slow down or let mi out the car.

  5. As some of you speaking about license is it legal for these motorized bicycle to be on the road and they are not licensed or insured?

  6. One time I witnessed Tulip’s bad conduct as she was carrying out her duty claiming how much she hates her job loudly……sigh

  7. Bad choices and decisions can have serious consequences. I think it’s kinda late for her and her mother to ‘learn’ that a ‘learner’s permit ‘ does not permit the learner to operate the vehicle all by herself. As for the passed passenger who was apparently passed out sleeping while his unlearned pilot was plowing through the shadows of the early morning, he had a lot of confidence in her ability to drive him to the pearly gates while he was dreaming of heaven. So sad that he had to wake up on the other side. If you don’t learn to live, I guess you won’t live to learn. I leave it there.

  8. Condolences to the youth man family. You find away to post the man picture, but two woman got arrested and no photo. People you driving with a friend and they speeding, open you mouth and say sommu, if you know them no have no license, ketch bus or walk, if they driving drunk or maybe falling asleep at the stop light, tell them pull over and take over the wheel.

  9. Officers always know the law until its someone dear to them. What tulip did was highly expected and on the other some ppl would hv turn in there kid not that is sum they want to di but it’s just doing the right thing.
