Daryl Matthew was sworn in as Education Minister during a brief ceremony at Government House this morning.

Matthew replaces Michael Browne, who resigned on Wednesday following allegations made against him by a woman.

Browne has since been arrested and charged and was granted bail in the sum of $15,000 when he appeared in court this morning. He must pay $6,000 in cash.

The 44 year-old was represented by Attorney Gail Pero who told the Court that her client has no previous arrests and will not be interfering with the victim or witnesses.

Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel-Edwards then gave him bail also ordering that the Member of Parliament for All Saints West, present two local sureties, surrender all of his travel documents, report to the All Saints Police Station three times a week.

  1. Did he get that because he has very little to do with no sports and carnival and culture? Or is he a placeholder until the Darg can sort out who should go where? If things go according to plan, Dean’s copious portfolios might become available too. Gaston could have moved Matthew over and given Colin James the Sports part. This is fun. Not even a free flight on LIAT could move me now. I have to see how this would unfold.

  2. Congratulations are in order. You will do a much better job because if who you are. Not some hurry-come-up find who happened to be at the rught place at the right time. Keep your head in the right place and your nose clean. Avoid at all cost compromising situations involving recruited starlets who may be female emissaries from the stables of the journalist and the trained mind-better or male wannabes from the stables of the Ass and/or King Arthur’s knights in shining armour. Above all, do nòt lose sight of the commendably high standards expected of you by the Hon. Prime Minister and, by extention all respectful, law-abiding citizens of this fair land. Best wishes.
