Dame Lorna Simon to retire after 50 years in the government service

Dame Lorna Simon

CABINET NOTES:

The Cabinet invited the Supervisor of Elections to join its members in order to bid her farewell, as she prepares to demit office.

The office of Supervisor of Elections is a creature of the Antigua and Barbuda Constitution; and, the Parliament was required to set the age of mandatory retirement which is at 75 years.

The Dame has not yet reached that age, but has spent more than 50 years in the service of the Government and prefers to enjoy her retirement while she enjoys good health.

She was accompanied by Ian Hughes, the Deputy, and John Jarvis, the Chairman of the Electoral Commission.

There has been a proposal to marry the Electoral Commission and the Supervisor’s role, when constitutional reform is being considered.

There is some support for this proposal, the Cabinet agreed. No decision was made.

  1. Job done her party was returned to office, the top dawg was able to to transfer voters from his constituency to help others, as he claimed.

Was there collusion at her office to accomplish this?

  2. Truly remarkable feat in service to country and must be applauded. A most distinguished civil servant indeed. Enjoy your retirement Dame Lorna. Best wishes!

  3. Barbuda was to be your last delivery for this Administration, but alas, the Barbudans have more guts than we here in Wadadli.

I listened to the Voice boast about how you are his baby mammy and how virtuous and competent you are. Now that you are retired, we wonder if you will be taking your evil machinations to the church board and high religion and saying prayers and making large donations to the church, because that way you can buy some forgiveness.

In the still of the night you will toss and turn, lady. Or Dame, or whatever they call you. Your conscience will keep you awake. You will think about all the things you did at the commission to help change the course of Antigua history. Not for the good, mind you. What you did up that hill was very wrong and it will follow you to your grave. Who knows? Maybe you too will have your Giant Malt moment.

Wickedness does not pay. You have hurt so many people with the dishonorable things you have done to change the course of the elections.
You are a very wicked person.
