CXC dismisses fake ‘exam leak’ allegations

The Barbados-based Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) has refuted reports circulating on social media of an examination leak.

The council in a statement on Tuesday (May 7), dismissed the reports as a hoax and frowned upon attempts by individuals to spread false information and create panic among candidates seeking to prepare for examinations.

Candidates are being urged to visit the CXC website (www.cxc.org) or social media pages for official news and updates from the regional examination body.

In 2022, Jamaica was at the centre of an examination leak scandal after examination papers were reportedly leaked to students at the Steer Town Academy in St Ann.

The institution was at the centre of a probe by the Overseas Examination Council (OEC) following allegations that several examination papers were leaked to students.

The school board has since ruled that the institution’s principal, examinations coordinator, an acting grade supervisor, mathematics teacher and a special education teacher be placed on leave following the probe.
