Antigua’s Customs and Excise Division has witnessed a substantial increase in revenue collections, totaling $232 million between January and July 2023, marking a $30 million upturn from the same period last year.

Comptroller of Customs, Raju Boddu, attributed this growth to enhanced operational efficiencies and a dedicated team at the Deep-Water Harbour.

Boddu noted a modest 6.7 percent rise in imports between July 2022 and 2023, with remarkable June and July collections surges of 12 and 14 percent, respectively.

The positive trend indicates successful efforts in minimizing system leakages and securing due taxes.

  1. AH WAH DE RASS YAH TARL….THIS IS VOODOO ECONOMICS. THE MORE YOU GIVE AWAY AH DE MORE YOU GET. JESUS SAID CAST YOUR BREAD ON THE WATERS AND IT WILL RETURN WITH MANY MORE SLICES. THESE NUMBERS NEED TO BE AUDITED

  2. Those revenues are passed onto the little person out there by way of pricing from those businesses. Heaven help us all.

  3. Great, maybe now the Customs officers stationed at the airport, who worked tirelessly throughout Covid-19 with little support from both the Government and the department. Can finally receive their overtime for 2019!!!

    Maybe…
