Zorina Benjamin murder “purely a domestic matter” says Customs

15

The Antigua and Barbuda Customs and Excise Division is once again mourning the loss of one of its faithful employees.

We can confirm with a sad and heavy heart this morning the tragic death of a colleague and friend, Zorina Benjamin.

Officer Benjamin was a committed and dedicated member of our team for the past 11 years.

Her warm and gracious smile and friendly personality left a lasting impression on everyone with whom she came in contact.

This has been a tough and bitter season for all of us. It was only mere weeks ago that we were left reeling with the shocking news of the demise of another employee, Margaret ‘Maggie’ Harris.

We welcome the news that a suspect is in the custody of the Police and he is due to be charged today. The police have also confirmed that the homicide, based on their investigations so far, was purely a domestic matter and not related to any Customs matter.

In the meantime, we continue to pray for Benjamin’s family and friends who are dealing with the painful circumstances of her untimely death and lean on each other for support in getting through these tough and challenging times.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to all who have been personally hurt by her loss.

  1. “…purely a DOMESTIC matter….”

Who was she living with??? fiance, husband, boyfriend?

Condolences to her family and coworkers. sorry for your loss

  2. Although the ABCconspiracy continues, please know that a man killing his woman is a crime of paramount importance. There is no “purely” in this
To anyone being bullied at home or at work, speak up!!

  3. They always find a cover up wow this administration needs to come down 😤😤😤😤. As old people like to say what’s in the dark most come to light.

    • U mine lib wit den cu know subben? U ah part ah de investigation team? Or r u just another internet detective🤔

  4. “Purely a domestic matter” makes it ok?
That statement was of poor taste….

Charging is not the end of the process,,

    • They have to come out with that cause all ah you like to make this cause and association argument. Even observer in their news report insinuated that.

  5. Customs was referring to what they said the police told them. Not sure why ANR changed the headline. The original headline read “Customs releases statement regarding death of….”

  6. That in a country with an allegedly low crime rate 3 people from one small agency have been violently murdered and 1 more was viciously attacked and shot over the course of what 2-3 years?

Definitely seems statistically improbable that all or most of these attacks are related to some aspect of working at customs.

  7. PURELY A DOMESTIC MATTER .
OMG CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE TRAIN WHICH EVER DEPT THAT ISSUED THAT STATEMENT.
SENSETIVETY TRAINING US WAY OVER DUE.
YEARS AGO WHILE DOING A COURSE AN EXAMPLE WAS GIVEN TWO SENTENCES WRITTEN WITH EXACTLY THE SAME WORDS. BY INTERJECTING A “SINGLE” WORD IN ONE OF THE SENTENCES THAT CHANGED THE MEANING OF BOTH . THE TWO NO LONGER HAS THE VERY SAME MEANING .

  8. My condolences to Zorina Benjamin family. I pray God strengthened and comforted her family especially her daughter who was her world.
This young man don’t have a heart. How can he lived with Zorina, sleep next to at night, make passionate love to, telling her how much he loves her, etc, and turned around and shoot her in the head? He can’t be human. Are they ruling this murdered as a domestic matter just to steer away from the Custom Department saga?

  9. May God be merciful and show her the things that he promised .His time will come . In judgement he will not be allowed to speak but listen a fitting end in eternal fire.
All praises be unto God even in times of unbelievable pain .
    God is Great .
