West Indies great, Curtly Ambrose, has applied for a vacant position with the  England and Wales Cricket Board.

The lanky Antigua is looking to fill the role of elite pace bowling coach, a position which was advertised three weeks ago by the ECB.

If successful, Ambrose would be required to work with England’s budding pace bowlers who are moving up the ranks as well as  to work with the senior team and England A squads.

This would not be the first coaching stint for Ambrose who played 12 years at the international level with 98 tests and 176 one day internationals to his credit

After retiring as a player, Ambrose did a coaching stint with West Indies as bowling coach and was in the role when the  team won the 2016 T20 World Cup.

Ambrose retired with 405 test wickets, including 21 four-wicket hauls and 22 five-wicket hauls and  225 wickets in one day internationals.
