Curfew Hours Changed From 9 pm-5 am Says Cabinet

The Cabinet agreed to make the following changes to the Curfew window, each is published in the Gazette of today’s date:

1.a. The curfew window authorized by the State of Emergency will now be extended from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm daily.

1.b. The beaches will be open on weekends as well, commencing this weekend; visitation is allowed from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm when the sun has set. There is to be no clustering, no picnicking, no music, no food on the beaches.

1.c. Tennis and swimming will be allowed to commence on Monday, May 18 2020, with protocols in place to include social-distancing rules.

1.d. Churches are free to conduct rituals, including baptisms, confirmations, weddings, funerals with the social distancing rules enforced, and no more than 25 persons in the sanctuary all wearing masks. The churches are to submit their protocols for consideration, which protocols will govern the holding of their regular Saturday and Sunday services.

  1. Beaches to be opened until 7:00p.m??? From extendethe ridiculous to the sublime! Who or what really guides these piecemeal cosmetic changes in this prolonged curfew about to be extended to July???? Gimme a break. By the way, hiw many businesses and/or Government offices are open until 9:00p.m.?

  4. HIP,HIP,HOORAY,WE ARE BEING LET OUT OF PURGATORY FOR A FEW MORE HOURS.PAPA AND MAMA NOW SAY WE COULD GO TO THE BEACHES ON WEEKENDS.DO NOT BRING ANY FOODS AND MUSIC.BRING YOUR PAMPERS AND PACIFIERS,WE ARE BABIES AGAIN. LOL

  5. I hope extending the curfew until 9pm would not increase crime activities. People will be wearing mask during dark night making it very dangerous. I think the open up during day light 5am to 7pm.
    I know that the government need more revenue coming in from the ABST if the supermarket open longer but life matter to.

  6. I would change the 9:00p.m. end of curfew. I think it’s too late, especially if we are trying to monitor and encourage social distancing.

  7. 7 pm would be more appropriate for safety purposes.
    It’s hard enough to recognise someone wearing a mask during the day, much less at night when it’s dark. Why provide an easier platform for criminals to perform??

    The 600pm curfew was not affecting anyone since most persons work from 8.00am to 4.30pm… In addition the authorities are concern about crimes committed behind the mask…. Hats, glasses and shades along with the recommended mask can disguise anyone and moreso when it is dark… In my view, 9.00pm is definitely too late….. It is too dark for mask to be worn… It can encourage criminal activity & also encourage parties which will limit the social distancing protocol. It will be better if the curfew starts from 7.00pm than 9.00 pm.
