Crump Family Devastated as Autopsy on 9-Year-Old Chantel Yields No Cause of Death
The grieving parents of 9-year-old Chantel Crump say they are left with more questions than answers after learning that their daughter’s autopsy was inconclusive.
Weeks after the examination was conducted, police informed the Crump family that the pathologist was unable to determine the cause of death.
Despite the significance of the findings, no physical report has yet been handed over to the family, who continue to press authorities for a copy.
The family’s anguish deepened after being told there were no signs of sexual abuse or physical trauma.
The unexplained results have complicated their search for closure, particularly following a chilling confession from Angela Mejia—the woman charged in connection with Chantel’s death—who allegedly claimed she drowned the child.
Although police drained the area described in the initial confession, no evidence was found until the following day when Mahia led investigators to Chantel’s body in Weatherills.
The family’s distress has been compounded by a police request for DNA tests to reconfirm their parental identity. Financial constraints now limit their ability to seek a second autopsy.
As Chantel’s funeral approaches on June 10, her parents are left grappling with the painful reality that, despite a criminal investigation and a suspect’s confession, the official cause of their daughter’s death remains a mystery.

I find it rather strange she gave up the body that quickly, as only people who think they are innocent would do that that fast. I blogger about that before.
Perpetrator would hold on to the hope of the body not being found, as they equate that to freedom. They will not tell you, unless there is a deal for it.
The fact she did (say where the body is), and no obvious sign of homicide, manner of death done by another, i find that my conclusion about her being innocent or not completely to blame is sounding very credible right now.
I asked the local authorities to have a criminal investigation expert, and behavioral and social experts in this case. I called for it, and it is now much more important with no cause of death.
I can not comvict that girl until cause of death is determined. Could be an accident but they unlawfully discarded the body.

Antigua is a laughingstock of the Caribbean. An educated pathologist didn’t see it fit to consult with his other medical counterpart in Antigua or the other Caribbean islands. I thought pathologists worked together where such a case arose.

So basically what I read here is the autopsy doctor scammed the family out of money. They were un qualified to do their job… because from my basic knowledge there would have been remains of water in the girls lungs of she was in fact drowned. I personally don’t believe that story without proper documentation. Chantel was murdered. The case became a government case to find out the cause of death. If the autopsy was inconclusive which happens sometimes, there are many other test to be carried out that will assist to find out the cause of death. There is a test called TOXICOLOGY which will determine the cause of death. That test cannot be done here. Until the cause of death is determined, the body will not be handed over to the her parents for burial. No body can be buried without knowing what kill the little girl. If the body was handed over to the family for burial, it simple mean that a cause of death was determine. There are too many fake bush Lawyers and fake pathologist on the street who feel they knows it all. Sombody somewhere don’t understand what is going on and spreading false information. Nobody has seen that autopsy report yet still everybody running their mouth. Antigua people love mele. Did ANR check out that information before they printed that article ?

@Oblivion – I believe you are chatting a whole lot of nonsense. This is not a political matter and nobody is blaming the death because of ALP or UPP.
The importance here is that at this stage it is even more than the little girl. If this matter is covered up by whoever has the power to do so, the criminals can walk free and harm other people (kids or adults). I personally do not believe this would have been the first rodeo killers and there may be links between this case and other unsolved murder or missing persons case.
I can understand that the authorities are doing an active investigation and certain information could jeopardize the case. However, I believe they are too tight lipped about everything to both the family and the public and hence that leads to ALL the speculation. For example, if the accused claimed she drowned the little girl, why is it that only now the public hearing about this? The police did a public briefing and had promised follow up briefings but nothing happened since that initial one. I was hoping to see a second one with improved gestures (the first one had no empathy to the situation).
I would recommend that the family establish a GoFundMe for this purpose because many persons would be willing to contribute.
