Cruise ship disallowed from docking in Antigua

The Ministry of Health, Wellness, and the Environment continue to monitor its air and seaports as part of its plan to protect the health of its citizens, residents, and visitors.

Today, Monday 9th March 2020, the Ministry of Health, and by extension the Government of Antigua and Barbuda reviewed the Maritime Health Declaration submitted by Costa Luminosa and noted the incompleteness and inconsistency in its attachment. The Ministry has noted that the declaration did not include timely notification of a passenger who had been on board with symptoms of an infectious disease.

Consequently, the Ministry of Health, Wellness, and the Environment was not able to support a decision to allow the ship to berth and recommended the cancellation of its call at the St. John’s Harbour.

The Government has therefore decided to disallow the vessels to make its scheduled call today, Monday 9th, 2020.

  1. Has there been any updates on the passenger who presumably would have been tested for the virus?
