COVID-19 hospitalizations increase, 23 new cases recorded

(Dashboard Update for September 1, 2021)

 

The most recent report received by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment from the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre has revealed twenty-three (23) new laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda as of Tuesday 31st August 2021 at 6pm.

 

Seventy-three (73) samples were processed at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.

 

Consequently, the total number of persons with laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda is one thousand seven hundred and forty-two (1742); which is inclusive of three hundred and forty-nine (349) active cases.

There are twenty-six (26) hospitalized cases; nineteen (19) mild, three (3) moderate and four (4) severe.

 

Meanwhile, Antigua and Barbuda has fully vaccinated thirty four thousand and eight (34,008) individuals while seven thousand and fifty-three (7,053) have only received their first dose.

The dashboard has been updated to reflect these changes.

 

*The Epidemiology Unit will provide a comprehensive update every Wednesday as it relates to the imported vs non-imported cases for the previous week.

  1. I urge the government and police offers to look into gyms and bars continuing to operate under the new protocols. Specifically Xtreme gym and bars in point

    • ALL BARS AND GYMS IN ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA ARE SUPPOSED TO BE CLOSED.RESTAURANTS ARE CLOSED EXCEPT FOR TAKE OUTS ONLY.THOSE ARE THE RULES IN PLACE AT THIS TIME 09/01/21.

  2. This is also a very high test positive rate, meaning a high percentage of those who got tested were positive, meaning if there were more testing done the rate of new cases would be even higher
