The couple arrested at the airport this week will be spending the weekend at His Majesty’s Prison, as per the decision made by Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh on Friday morning.
Larry Parks, aged 45, and Yetta Purcell, aged 42, were remanded on a Malicious Damage charge.
Despite living in the United States, the defendants pleaded not guilty to damaging a vehicle at an apartment they were renting in Gambles on Wednesday.
The chief magistrate, considering them flight risks, denied bail to the defendants.
Parks and Purcell were apprehended by the police at the airport as they attempted to flee the country following the Gambles incident.
The couple is now facing multiple charges, including Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Malicious Damage of a Police Vehicle, and several Battery on Police charges.
Magistrate N’gaio Emanuel will preside over their hearing for these charges, as the Coolidge area where the airport is situated falls under her jurisdiction.
