Controversy Erupts as Distribution of Hams and Turkeys Sparks Political Tensions in St. George’s

In a recent telephone conversation, it was revealed that comrade leader Gaston Brown directed against providing hams and turkeys to comrade Dean Jonas, his agents, or representatives.

The branch, reportedly belonging to Jonas, is said to deny these items to his supporters. Despite efforts to be included, Jonas and his team are actively seeking alternatives for distribution.

Meanwhile, hams and turkeys are being distributed by other candidates and their agents in St. George’s, adding fuel to the political tension. The situation has sparked interest and speculation, with #TeamDeanJonas gaining attention on social media.

  3. This ham and turkey giveaway is the most sickening thing known and seen anywhere in the civilized world.

    The greed by persons who don’t even have space for one turkey much less the 4 and 5 they get is beyond understanding. The people are covetous and greedy and disgusting as they grab for these turkeys and hams. Some cannot afford to prepare one much less all. And to see the distributors throw them out of the trucks onto the road and the people running to grab them.

    Are we in the Gaza? You can understand those poor people. But here in Antigua? Good gad!
    Gaston Browne knows his people and know how low and beggy-beggy they are and he caters to the baseness in them.

    This is what our country has come to. Persons sitting down waiting for Christmas so they could get a ham and/or a turkey in exchange for their vote.

    • So are you suggesting. That only PM’s supporters accept the food items? This has been going on for decades in Antigua and Barbuda.
      For your information, elected members body Christmas parties and give away hams and turkeys as well. They do soup kitchens for the season.
      Sometimes, the president go to serve food at soup kitchens.
      In some states in America, children receive gift cards to purchase ham or turkey from Walmart.
      It’s a good gesture for the community. It’s a way to give back to the people. You don’t have to take any if you don’t wish to.
      But don’t look down on others for accepting them.

    • What’s the difference? People in other countries get a tax refund. Since you don’t pay an income tax, there is nothing for you to get back. If you don’t want the ham or turkey, don’t accept it.
      Stop crying down others for accepting it.

    If Gaston Browne showed the same efforts for overtime payments, delayed pensions, and overdue wages – as well as the high cost of living – as he’s doing to distribute the hams and turkeys; Antigua WOULD be an economic powerhouse! 😁
