The Government of Antigua and Barbuda through the Project Implementation Management Unit (PIMU) is seeking to engage the services of a consultant to assist with the formulation of an economic master plan for the island of Barbuda.
Formulation of this master redevelopment plan aims to strengthen capacity for Barbuda to become the driver of a technically, economically feasible, socially inclusive and economically sustainable as well as create wealth an employment for the people of Barbuda.
The need for the formulation of this master plan comes as the island is still in infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction mood after the entire island sustained catastrophic damage as a result of the passage of Hurricane Irma.
Shawn Thomas, Public Relations Officer for the Project Implementation Management Unit, said:
“The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has secured funding from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) towards the cost of Barbuda rehabilitation and is now inviting eligible firms and individuals to apply to provide consultancy services for the development of the Barbuda Master Development Plan that will establish policies and guidelines that will foster development and socio-economic growth on Barbuda.
While the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) in association with the Ministry of Works have been managing the recovery effort in the aftermath of hurricane, the development must go beyond that and calls for a socially inclusive plan to be developed that focuses on all the necessary policies and programs required to support the redevelopment as well reconstruction of Barbuda” Thomas concluded.
Firms wishing to express an interest in providing consultancy services for the Master Development plan for Barbuda Rehabilitation and Reconstruction project have until 1500 hours on 31st August 2018 to apply.
