Construction to begin soon on new facilities to treat heart and kidney patients

Construction work on new facilities to treat heart and kidney patients could get underway this year, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced.

The country’s leader said the cardiac and renal units will offer tertiary health-care services not previously offered in Antigua and Barbuda.

Additionally, Prime Minister Browne said the government hopes to export some of the services to neighbouring islands.

“The  health-care facilities here obviously are superior to many within the region,” Browne said.

Earlier today, Browne, along with the Minister of Health, Wellness and Environment Molwyn Joseph and Medical Director, Dr. Albert Duncan toured the recently completed Blackburn Polyclinic and Community Center.

The project is a gift from the People’s Republic of China and will mainly provide local residents with basic medical services, public health services and carry out community service activities.

  1. Another election gimmick, election season is here the failed experiment is blowing hot air again, fifty one and counting since 2014.

  2. I am wondering which Caribbean islands he is referring to when he said “health care facilities here superior to many in the region”. May be Barbuda and Redonda.

  3. A burnt child will always dread playing with fire…. UPP tried a thing between 2004 & 2014, convincing us that there will hope under the bright sunshine…. Miserably, they failed us, almost running this country on reef. On the other hand, It is evident that under the Gaston Browne’s administration, promises are made and promises are kept. So, according to the older & wiser heads ” We now know what we have but, we do not know what we would get should we make a change once again.” Therefore, we need to acknowledge it and cherish it bcuz it obvious, better is yet to come under this present administration

  4. Hon.Gaston Browne is a caring Man. Take a good look at what taking place in Antigua / Barbuda with the POLYCLINICS. These POLYCLINICS are MINI- HOSPITALS. Wonderful job by HON.GASTON BROWNE and ABLP.

All you CRITICS might be the first to use these FACILITIES.

  5. The New Antigua is arising and moving forward under the leadership of the Hon. Gaston Browne, who is truly a Natural Leader. He is a Leader for times such as this. He IS caring and compassionate. He almost had to drag us kicking and screaming into the 21st century, but the people are with him, and we have seen many good results. The spirit of Vere Cornwall Bird is alive and well and walks among us, ever encouraging us to move forward into Antigua’s New Day! God bless this great land.

  6. You think that after these two new Poly Clinics have come to past that his critics and haters would at least admit that this guy is producing for this country. And when he make yet another promise that surely he will keep unless the unforeseen happens they again call it bluff and election gimmicks. When elections are not due anytime soon. He does’t need this as an election gimmick. Just look at the Fifth Pier. Especially when the first Largest Cruise ship in the world docks here in our very own Port.
