Concerned citizens join members of the United Progressive Party in protest action demanding an inquiry into the Antigua Airways debacle

REAL NEWS: Hundreds of people turned out this morning (Tuesday, February 7) to join the United Progressive Party (UPP) in staging a picket of the Prime Minister’s Office on Queen Elizabeth Highway over the Antigua Airways saga and a possible trafficking of persons from West Africa.

Hundreds of West Africans remain in Antigua after being brought here through charter flights organized apparently by Antigua Airways and the Cabinet recently announce that consideration is being given to regularizing their status.

The UPP and a number of concerned citizens and residents are calling for a public inquiry into the scandal.

Persons lined the sides of the roadway bearing placards calling on the Gaston Browne-led administration to put in place a full public inquiry.

Pearl Quinn-Williams, United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate for St John’s Rural North, says that the Party and the people of this country are not going to allow this issue to be swept under the carpet.

Quinn-Williams says the Cabinet should pull back on the decision to regularize the immigration status of the Africans until an investigation or inquiry is held.

She says that Antigua’s reputation is being sullied while the powers that be continue to remain silent.

We will have more on the picket during our newscast at 5pm.

  1. Do you really think that they spent all this money and set whole thing up just to bring a few African migrants into the country, or is something else being loaded on these empty planes back to Africa ??

  2. Everyone of all political persuasion and colours should all come out and protest and demand an explanation as to what is really going on in our country.

My beloved Antigua & Barbuda does not belong to Gaston Browne.

If we do not stand together on this matter now, not only will travel restrictions be put in place for honest and hardworking Antiguans, but also it will make our Prime Minister thinks he’s above the law.

SADLY, HE ALREADY THINKS HE IS …

  3. The only way the UPP can get any support is by stirring up racism against foreigners. Try developing some policies which actually help the population of Antigua for once, instead of spreading conspiracies about the vaccine and being an Antiguan version of the trump magas.
Creating fear and hysteria over non issues will work for you for a while, but it will only harm the majority of people here. I notice you are not down at the docks demonstrating to stop the foreigners coming off the cruise ships. Wonder why?

    • Is that all you got @ Arnold?

Sending out more negative soundbites and using “race” to deflect from Gaston Browne and the ABLP’S shortcomings. How sad!

You guys won the recent election and you still as miserable as hell. Mercy!

      Praying for Antigua … 🙏

    • @ Arnold

More policies than what was promulgated during the recent elections?

Which country are you living in?

I would remind you that the opposition had more voters voting for them than the ABLP- so wheel and come again.
Fear over non-issues ? You certainly do not understand the far reaching implications of human trafficking. Just like Canada removed visa free status from us, so will the UK and all European countries eventually.
Antigua mash up by ABLP who won the election through purchasing it.
U guys are full of hogwash

    • ARNOLD is the African migrant crisis a non-issue? Please take your head from our of the sand and apply logic to everything you have heard from Gaston and the government on the matter. The establishment of Antigua Airways was designed by Gaston, Marvelous Mike and other Nigerian fraudsters to do exactly what has unfolded so far. The other issue is serious money was passed in this undertaking so you can ask Gaston how much he or the government got. This African migration issue is as scandalous and nefarious as SPACE RESEARCH and the government needs to come clean with the facts. That however will never happen under an ALP Administration since the consequences for some will be devastating.

      • i dont deny the government is corrupt and made money from this issue. but that is not why the UPP is protesting. They want to play on fear of foreigners to generate hysteria they can capitalize on. viz trump and Mexicans

        • Oh, and by the way Arnold (regarding your first response), vaccine 💉🩸conspiracy theorists do not end up with Myocarditis or Pericarditis … just saying boss!

  4. I can only see a bunch of frustrated and xenophobic scoundrels. Are you not ashamed of crying every day about the presence of Africans in Antigua?
Foreigners will continue to sink the miserable UPP party. Not Dem again!

  5. Pringle the people of Antigua and Barbuda 🇦🇬 need clarity of your pronunciation of words that you can’t even pronounce. You need to that first before come and talking garbage to the people.

In order to represent your people. You must be able to comprehend and articulate . You sends dump as Prime Minister to represent your country or else you will be the laughing stock of the world 🌎 and who needs that.

  6. @Mike

The ABLP is losing even the foreign vote, so they have concocted another plan to rebuild it with the Africans…….THE ABLP does not do anything unless money or their livelihood or existence is involved. The plan is to get the Africans spread evenly among the constituencies that are strongholds of the opposition so that THEY WILL NEVER LOSE ANOTHER ELECTION, BUT GOD IS NOT SLEEPING.
NO OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD WELCOME FOREIGNERS TO THEIR SHORES LIKE ANTIGUA, SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY WANT TO REMAIN IN POWER.
    R U MINIONS NAR SHAME?
WITHOUT MONEY AND FOREIGNERS YOU WILL NEVER WIN AN ELECTION AND IT’S PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WILL SUFFER AND COME BEGGING TO OPPOSITION SUPPORTERS FOR HELP. I AINT GIVING NO HELP TO ANYONE THAT DESTROYS THIS COUNTRY THROUGH CORRUPTION.
    YOU THINK IT’S ALRIGHT….WHAT A WICKED SET A PEOPLE.’MONEY ELECTION’

  7. Do u believe Jamal pringle will want to take up that opportunity, if he did not want to b a part of the task force during covid ? He had chance to be part of the ERC during pandemic and said no. now he pretending to want “consultation”???

    • Why do you think some countries require visa for Antiguans. Because, they overstay and the CBI

  8. Immigration Policies are set by the SITTING GOVERNMENT! the IMF party remains in opposition! Who he want the government to consult with? certainly not Pringle jack. Mr. Cant Read or Talk Sense.

Syrians had to flee to Turkey. leave the Cameroonians

  9. I am guessing that these people is going to March to try and create civil unrest in the country to soothe their ego ,by spreading lies and propaganda to damage their country,it amazing how people claim to love Antigua and Barbuda that they will go all out to destroy our beloved country because of hatred.

  10. HYPOCRISY what has been the outcome of the work of the ERC and in particular the building of the second city at Willoughby Bay? You need to honestly answer that question.

  11. Insularity by Antiguans is amazing. Should the Antiguans who migrated to T other countries seeking a better life be deported too. Every citizen will seek greener pastures. Antiguans what is wrong with you all and do you all realize that your country is lacking in skills and labor? If your country collapse under tourism do you realize wunna backsides going starve?

    • @Funny Money

Citizens have always sought greener pastures for themselves and their families.
They make their way to a country whether by visa or vacation, and sometimes overstay for years before they could gain papers to send for their families.

Would you say that this is the same? Did anybody organize and bring together plane loads of mixed citizens, let’s say Kittians, Nevisians, Montserratians, Antiguans, etc, to go to Uncle Sam’s country via St Thomas or St Croix, landing them amidst grand fanfare?
Do you know of any of these travelers walking around these islands dragging their suitcases behind them and begging for food and lodging because they were stranded by agents who took money from them and promised them to get them into the US?

SOMETIMES YOU ALL MUST REASON WITH YOURSELVES BEFORE YOU SPOUT SUCH BIAS GARBAGE.

Stop trying to make excuse for this heinous act perpetuated on these people from the Motherland by Gaston Browne and his coward, compromised, sycophantic government.
