Community Outcry as Raw Sewage Threatens Popular Drive, Prime Minister Urges Swift Action

Concerns are mounting in the community regarding the release of what appears to be raw sewage from an apartment complex on Epicurean Drive.

The sewage is flowing onto Lauchland Benjamin Drive, impacting a well-traveled adjacent road.

During the Browne and Browne Show on Saturday, Prime Minister Browne voiced frustration over the delayed response of public health officials in ordering the closure of the facility until the issue is resolved.

PM Browne asserted that the businessman responsible for the sewage discharge has allowed raw sewage to flow onto a government road.

Despite months of warnings from the Central Board of Health and the Development Control Authority, the situation has only deteriorated.

The prime minister called on these agencies to take decisive action and address the issue, emphasizing the need for urgency.

Highlighting the serious health risks posed to individuals and families using Lauchland Benjamin Drive, PM Browne criticized the businessman for prioritizing profits over the well-being of the people of Antigua and Barbuda.

He expressed his dissatisfaction with public officials’ apparent reluctance to address the matter firmly and called for more assertive action.

PM Browne emphasized that the problem has persisted for months without effective intervention from the Central Board of Health and other authorities. He urged the department head to issue a letter promptly, ordering the closure of the apartments until the sewage problem is rectified.

  1. I agree with you in this instance P.M. but that part that says –
“PM Browne criticized the businessman for prioritizing profits over the well-being of the people of Antigua and Barbuda.”
That is laughable. Why is it laughable Gaston Browne? Is it because you have numerously been criticized for prioritizing self enrichment over the well-being of the people of Antigua Barbuda? Enquiring minds would like to know.

  2. Agreed. The authorities need to give this business person a date by which this situation must be solved for the benefit of the affected community. The health and safety of the people must take priority. People ahead of profits.

  3. To:Gaston Browne …..the person who prioritizes seft enrichment …….The Simple solution… Padlock the business..

Post notices from the Health Department and DCA. Send in a government santary unit to clean up the mess immediately, and back charge the owner for all the cost.

Opening takes place when the sanotsary repairs are completed inspected and approved and all the spoils are properly desposed of .

  4.
