Community activist Mary John today called for convicted murderer Umberto Schenato to be immediately returned to Her Majesty’s Prison.
Schenato has been transferred to Fiennes Institute where he is now undergoing rehabilitative treatment.
John says residents should pour their support behind the family of the late Edda Jensen especially her daughter Jacquie Bartlett who has been spokesperson on behalf of family.
“We are demanding that convicted murderer Umberto Schenato who tormented his ex wife for 10 years before viciously stabbing her to death in a public parking lot be immediately returned to Her Majesty’s Prison,” she said on social media.
Recently, Schenato was transferred from Her Majesty’s Prison to the Mount St. John Medical Centre, and later to the Fiennes Institure for treatment of a fractured hip, sustained in a fall. During the time he was there, an inside source tells REAL News, he was a challenging patie
Schenato, 80, was sentenced to 20 years in prison November 2016 after being foun guilty of murdering his ex-wife Edda Schenato.
He stabbed his wife to death in the parking lot of Epicurean Supermarket June 3, 2013.

If we are moving towards building an economic powerhouse, it is full time that the prison (HMS 1735) have a mini hospital of its own, where medical care can be given to that point where it is not of a life threatening nature for the prisoner. It is true that the statistics may not show that there’s a high rate of prisoners escaping or creating problems at the major hospital, but, their presence at the hospital creates a form of insecurity and discomfort for other patients and visitors alike. In addition, the presence of the uniform security personnel who are guarding these prisoners, whether they are police or prison wardens, draw much attentionto the prisoners, which in my view is invading the personal privacy……..
Get that killer back into 1735 right now. The people at Fiennes should NOT have to deal with this murder. Let him die in prison. Why wasn’t he “hung by the neck until dead”? What a waste of taxpayers money. The guy is a convicted KILLER. Back to 1735 he must go. NOW!

Joining Mary John community activist in demanding the immediate return to 1735 of convicted murderer Schenato. What justification could there be for special treatment for this convicted murderer? I shudder even to imagine thst race was a factor here. The authorities who made the decision to transfer him to the Fiennes Institute should be severely penalised, begining with a public explanation followed by a public apology to the staff and residents of the Fiennes Institute.
Kick his killer ass right back to 1735 before he attacks somebody at Fiennes.
if you live by the sword you should die by that same sword. No man should never be able to live happy after taking one life. from the moment you are found guilty by the court of law you shouls be hang. I can’t get a raise on my salary because too many muderers are eating the taxe payers money.
How to get away with murder in Antigua needs to be a mini series on TV.
In real countries all murderers get at least 50 years or life. In Antigua justice for murder starts on 45 years which is then reduced once you plead guilty. Apparently, not wasting the courts time is the weightiest factor in deciding how you pay your dues to society for taking a life. 45 years magically becomes 20 as the judge whittles away at the prescribed time to be served so he can hurry home for some R&R. It doesn’t end there though.
Once in prison you sign up for a work program with strong political connections and then boom..just like that you end up being pardoned illegally and are reintegrated into society having served less than a quarter of your prison sentence. Next thing you know a cold blooded murderer is living next to you having served a mere 10 years – less time than a convicted drug dealer.
You can’t make this stuff up.
That man killed his ex wife in a Supermarket(Epicurean)Parking Lot.He did not hide and do it.He did not give one damn.He was sentenced to 20 years in Hotel 1735.Was he one of those prisoners released early from Prison last year.Only to be picked up and returned to said Prison.What became of that matter.That involved the Minister of Justice.It was swept under the carpet like many other things in Antigua.
I work at the fiennes institute the guy cant even help his self . He doesnt get special treatment. He doesnt even look like he going live to see next year,according to how he looks.
Umberto was not a murderer, he was pushed into it over $$$ and messy divorce . I knew very well Edda and Umberto ( even know them better than Edda daughter that was in Canada and only came in for vacation to visit. If Edda was not treated well , then where was her big mouth daughter to help her mom from Umberto’s so called abuse. Or why the daughter did not intervene and now that Edda is dead , her daughter is crying and protesting for her dead mom) . All over the marble hill suits which now Edda’s daughter cashing in the revenues are bc of Mr. Umberto’s genius mastery , his hard labor work for years and Umberto’s own personnel assists that he invested in those marbel hill villas . I was there when Edda sold parts of the land to the Haddid for cheap amount while the divorce was not finalized and without Humberto knowledge as he was kept in the dark and Umberto was thrown out of his house like an animal and no respect. Edda daughter never liked Umberto even before Edda was dead and she knows why ? There are both sides to the history and people should not jump to conclusion. It was wrong the way Edda was dead but umberto was driven to it bc he lost almost all of his entire life investment, dignity , respect and the way he was treated very in humane. Is sad bc at the end both Edda and Umberto lost everything but the winner is Edda daughter that inherited everything and she did not save Edda’s life, was not part of Edda life and only came to the island to party. So , I do not believe the daughter and she should be happy for all the $$$$ she got out of the tragedy of two unhappy people.
