ASOT MICHAEL – LOVE HIM OR HATE HIM, HE WAS QUITE AN AWESOME HUMAN BEING.
I am still trying to come to grips with the tragic news of the untimely death of MP Asot Michael.
Mr Michael was not just a politician, he was a self motivated human being and this was always demonstrated by his kindness towards humanity, almost on a daily basis..
He never held himself above anyone. He was always very respectful, extremely humble and usually treats others as he would want to be treated. His peers and anyone working with him bears proof to his hardworking, kind, down to earth nature, including his likeability and his generosity with his time and resources, which he is never afraid to share with his colleagues, fans and constituents whenever they reach out to him.
Mr Michael was known for personally footing the bill for several concerts over the years.
Asot Michael has used his personal wealth and that of his family to help hundreds of people, not just in his St. Peters constituency but throughout Antigua and Barbuda. He was well known to be one of Antigua and Barbuda’s most prolific philanthropist.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, Parliamentary colleagues and constituents and may his soul rest in perpetual peace.

Now he dead are you ah say so
I never met him or asked him for anything when I was broke in college and begging for grants. But I have a feeling he would not have said, “I can not help you” like PM Brown and ABLP did. Or, like UPP stated, they are no longer giving any grants pertaining to legal studies because there are too many Attorneys in Antigua and Barbuda.
I do not MP Asot but for some reason, I believed that if I had a way to have met him, and ask him for help, he would have tried to help. I could be wrong but I concluded this based on the many people who stated the help they got from you and how he is.
Perhaps he was a better leader than the ones we have and had at the helm. Not saying he is the best for the United Islands of Antigua and Barbuda but it seems as if he is better than most of the other leaders now available in politics today.
you always making everything about YOU! even in the untimely death of someone, you are trying to turn the spotlight on YOU. smdh!!!!
Sad to say but our law enforcement don’t have the capability and the necessity to properly and successfully investigate this case. A minister of this stature found lifeless on his estate, an estate surrounded by cameras is too large for our law enforcement, Scotland yard must be invited immediately to take over.
I often think of the many cold cases out there yet to be solved and wonder if we have a cold case squad of Detectives who’s job it is to bring closure to these cases i.e husband and wife in Golden Grove, I think the female who was gun down some years back in a store broad daylight around the tourist district still open and wasn’t a guy found shot in car in the AGS area, plus how about all those missing young men with their moms crying on the news and lately the two young females that was left on the side and I also think there are a number of sudden deaths that should have been further investigated instead of just leaving them as that.
Condolences to the Michael’s family, but you need to bring in your own investigating team.
@my way if helping, you said it right. When I needed help it was always said by many. Go and talk to Asot Micheal, but I could not ever get to speak to him. But, I was glad for the many people he helped and tried to help. I just was not one of the fortunate ones who did not receive of his beneficent heart. Not like Gaston Browne who I actually spoke to, and he said go and talk to Dr Williams at the time. Mr Browne also , brushed me off with a ( I can’t help anyone right now). Well I came out of his office and swore I would never ask another political mp for assistance. You know how many time I wento Dr Williams to ask him for aid in opening my idea of a laundry mat in English Harbour area. I was younger then full of energy and educated. Dr Williams, placed a great disappointment in me a tender age. But, not Asot Micheal he will be missed not like Browne and Williams. I’m so sorry died. God be with his family and loved ones and friends and well wishers. I pray that God will comfort you all.
Asot was one of those individuals that you either love or hate. No in-between. If he was your friend, he was the best friend you’d ever had. Nothing was too much for him to do for his friends. But if he was your enemy, oh boy you would have to try and get rid of him. Cause that man would harass you so bad. I have seen some leaving the island just not to have to deal with him. But when one dies lets focus on the good that one has done. And Parham people can surely testify to that. Actually the entire St. Peter’s constituency. Xmas will not be the same any longer. Besides the normal ham and turkey he will have presents for young and old and for the house. And for some he even went so far to give fridges, stoves and TV’s and many other things. He paid for the education of many students, and even funeral service of his constituents. When minister of Public Works, when the Treasury had no money to pay the workers, Asot would go to his bank and take cash and pay many of the workers from his own money, with the promise that they should pay him back when they get the money from the Treasury. Something that few did. Asot always love to give, a trade he inherited from his father. Especially during the annual Xmas celebration in front of their shoe store. And many know the Xmas parties at Dry Hill. When going to school he used to show off the other kids how much money he had, that he burned a hundred dollar note once.
He will be missed by his friends and constituents as he showed Antigua that he could win his seat as an Independent member. Something never done before.
I really wish Gods Blessings on his soul and may he accept him in his paradise. And look not on his sins but on the good that he did when alive. May his family find comfort in the Lord and bear this pain with the Love and Strenght of Him. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. AMEN
@concern, my condolences. Truly appreciate your response. And happy you got some help.
The ones who said he was a good human being…Never had to deal with Asot in some restaurants..He was to disrespectful a lot and use to had a nasty actitude in restaurants..He always beleive he was bigger than the rest..He never helped because he had a good heart..He just invested in electoral votes like others.
@ Attention-Starved or what??? you seem to have a problem with the gentleman outside of him giving condolences and giving a few words on Mr. Michael. Never heard of “if you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say it at all?”
