Superintendent Louisa Benjamin Calls for Improvements to Police Training Academy; Acting PM Responds

Superintendent Louisa Benjamin, Commandant of the Sir Wright F. George Police Training Academy, made a passionate appeal for the modernization of the academy during the graduation ceremony for Course 49 of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda. Benjamin highlighted the critical need for improved facilities to better serve recruits and honor the legacy of the institution’s namesake, Sir Wright F. George.

“While we express our gratitude, it is with a heavy heart that I again plead for the academy to be modernized to a standard befitting of its name and the quality of people who work and continue to work this compound,” Benjamin stated.

She further emphasized, “Our beloved academy went from a landed campus to an open campus. Thank you. We deserve better. Sir Wright F. George deserves better.”

Benjamin highlighted the logistical challenges faced during training, noting that Course 49 was the first group to complete training outside of the academy’s historic compound. She also commended the dedication of her team for their tireless efforts despite limited resources.

“The training team and recruits are grateful for your support during this journey,” Benjamin said. She also acknowledged the sacrifices made by staff and families to ensure the success of the program, adding, “To the families of the instructing team, I say a heartfelt thank you for being their support base.”

Responding to the call, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Public Safety Sir Stedroy “Cutie” Benjamin pledged the government’s support for the academy’s improvement. “The government will make sure that the Wright George Academy is modernized to reflect the type of training which is being done by this particular institution,” he stated.

Sir Stedroy Benjamin praised the efforts of the training team and recruits, acknowledging their resilience in the face of challenges. “I wish to commend you, Commandant, and your team for a job very well done,” he said. He also emphasized the government’s commitment to equipping law enforcement and fire services with the necessary resources to perform their duties effectively.

“This police force needs young, strong, and courageous individuals to carry on the legacy of the organization and the work of great past commissioners,” Benjamin added. “Safety and security continue to be a priority for this government, and we will continue to support the police force in its efforts.”

Superintendent Benjamin concluded her address by urging the graduates to carry forward the legacy of the academy with pride and discipline. “The nation of Antigua and Barbuda deserves absolutely the best. You have received the training; it’s now time for action,” she said.

  1. In his final speech in the Parliament, Sir Gerald Watt BEGGED for the Parliament to be modernized.

Now, Superintendent Louisa Benjamin, Commandant of the Sir Wright F. George Police Training Academy is BEGGING just like Sir Gerald Watt.

  2. I am willing and interested to be a sponsor of the police training facility. I also want to contribute financially, educationally and equipmentally (not sure if it is a word but definitely using it), as well as getting staff trained locally or overseas with advance policing training, equipments, etcetera.

    Conditions apply******

  3. More BS promises from Cutie. Nuff said. We all know that is all he is good for. The biggest bluffer, full of sweet words, poetry and big words. Not even school children believe anything he says. The government has a World Boss and a King Liar.
