High Wind, High Surf, and Small Craft Advisories Issued by Antigua Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard
Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, Anguilla, and the British Virgin Islands, January 24, 2024 – The Antigua Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard (ABDF CG) has issued crucial advisories for mariners and beach-goers in light of prevailing weather conditions.
The Meteorological Office has declared a High Wind Advisory, High Surf Advisory, and Small Craft Advisory effective from January 24, 2024.
The ABDF CG urges all mariners to stay informed by closely monitoring daily weather reports. Extreme caution is advised when venturing into the sea, taking into account the existing weather conditions.
Mariners are strongly recommended to ensure the seaworthiness of their vessels, verifying that all required safety equipment is on board and in optimal condition. Those with vessels alongside or at anchor should pay special attention to mooring and anchor lines, ensuring proper security measures when not in motion.
For beach-goers and individuals engaged in beach-related activities, exercising heightened caution and remaining vigilant is paramount during this advisory period.
The advisories will be in effect until the evening of January 26, 2024, unless updated by the MET Office.
