Officials have moved the national clean-up campaign to the Lower Ottos area, where teams are removing derelict vehicles and other waste.

The National Solid Waste Management Authority and the Central Board of Health were previously operating in the Villa and Point areas before shifting efforts.

The campaign aims to improve the country’s appearance and reduce health and security risks linked to abandoned vehicles, which are often left along roadsides and in empty lots.

Inspectors mark derelict vehicles with an “X” to notify owners and allow time for voluntary removal. Vehicles that remain are later removed by government crews using heavy equipment.

Officials say public cooperation is essential and are urging residents to take responsibility for their surroundings and support the nationwide effort.

  1. Japan derelict vehicles are been sold to Antiguans for cheap prices and then in two or three years the become derelict in antigua. What advantage to the people. We buy rubbish get duty-free and then they are rubbish to us.

  2. The owners of the delerict vehicles should also be charged for the removal. Our tax dollars should not be used to remove them.

Bill every one of the owners and if they don’t pay, put a lien on their assets.

  3. Me comment till me no know wha else fu do bout dem 2 dutty Ole Nissan in Bolans and up to now not one damn thing is done

  4. @Public you are 100% correct. Politicians will lose votes if they dare to implement what @Owners should pay, is saying.
This clean up is for the CHOGM motorcades later this year. It will be back to normal soon enough.
