Clarevue Psychiatric Hospital Receives Donation of Toiletries from Youth Activists

1

Patients at Clarevue Hospital received a timely donation of personal toiletries kits from Progressive Youth, a group of youth activists in Antigua and Barbuda.

Headed by Ayanna Baptiste, Guishonne Powell, and Lexianne Abraham-Powell, the Progressive Youth seeks to educate, empower, and support families and the community at large to understand and care for the mental health of our youth.

The newly-formed group believes that by starting conversations about mental health, the stigma associated with mental health will be reduced, increasing the likelihood that young people will seek care.

As part of their push, the group will also host a weekly programme called All Jokes Aside starting Sunday April 3.  The new talk-show will engage young people in conservations on topics of interest to the youths in the twin-island state.

The topic for the premiere show will focus on the challenges and solutions to address mental health among Antiguan and Barbudan youth.  The programme will be live-streamed on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Progressive FM. Stay tuned!
