ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA CIVIL REGISTRY

(Births, Deaths, Marriages, Adoptions, Deeds, Bills of Sale, etc.)

We wish to advise the general public that the Antigua and Barbuda Civil Registry (ABCR)
will remain closed during the week starting Monday 23h August 2021 to facilitate the
ongoing upgrades to the software system.

Given the critical nature of the identity data being handled, the ABCR continues to work
closely with our strategic partners at the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting,
Telecommunications and Information Technology, ACT (Antigua) Ltd. and HID Global.

In moving towards modern systems, we recognize that there are often painful transitionary
periods which occur, and we are mindful of the impact on the public. It is with this in mind
that the ABCR, the Attorney General’s Office and Ministry of Legal Affairs, Public Safety
and Labour wish to inform members of the public that we are making every effort to move
this transitionary process along as quickly as possible.

We remain committed to improving the efficiency of delivery of the Registry’s services.

Additionally, we wish to further inform the public that this period of closure may be
extended, if needs be; therefore, we request that you pay attention to announcements
coming from our office to indicate the status of upgrades and the date of resumption of full
operations.

We indulge your continued patience at this time and assure that we are working feverishly
behind the scenes to move our systems and processes forward.

Please note that the Customer Service window will be opened from 8:30am to 12:00
noon, during this period of closure, to facilitate emergencies and filings within the Deeds
Division.

For any further information please contact us at Tel: 562-9687/88

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

  1. This is screwed up. Why the upgrades could not be done in stages. Why did the entire system had to be put down. Come on tell us all the damn truth. Was the system so antiquated. It could not functioned at all while the upgrades were being done. There are too many knuckle heads parading as smart persons in those Ministries.
