The Customs & Excise Division of Antigua and Barbuda has announced the launch of the 2024 Christmas Barrel Initiative, set to run from December 1, 2024, to January 15, 2025.
This program aims to ease the burden on households during the holiday season by allowing the importation of personal-use items at reduced costs.
Under the initiative, each household can bring in a standard-sized shipping barrel or an E-container filled with the following items:
- Clothing (with a limit of no more than seven pieces of the same type)
- Groceries
- Toiletries
Participants in the program will be subject to a 10% Revenue Recovery Charge (RRC) and a processing/handling fee of $10. This effort is part of a broader government strategy to make essential goods more accessible during the festive period.
