China Names New Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda

The People’s Republic of China has named its new Ambassador-Designate to Antigua and Barbuda replacing Ambassador Wang Xianmin, who departed at the end of April following the completion of his tour of duty.

The Ambassador-Designate is His Excellency Sun Ang, who arrives in St. John’s on May 23, 2019, at which time he will formally present his credentials to the Governor General, Sir Rodney Williams, and other senior officials of government.

His first meeting will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when he will hold brief discussions Foreign Minister, Hon. E.P Chet Greene along with Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Anthony Liverpool.

The presentation of credentials takes place shortly after when the Ambassador-Designate Sun calls on Sir Rodney at Government House. Following the exchanges between the Governor General and the Chinese Official, his next engagement is a meeting with Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne at the Office of the Prime Minister.

Ambassador-Designate Sun will also pay courtesy calls on Opposition Leader, Hon. Jamale Pringle at his office in the parliament building. He will also meet with the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Her Excellency Maria Fiffe Cabreja, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Antigua and Barbuda at the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba, Blue Waters Drive.

  1. This is great news, welcome to Antigua Mr. Ambassador, we hope you enjoy your time here. Many Antiguan’s, including myself, believe Antigua and China have a great relationship. Hopefully China can increase the relationship with Antigua in the future. Please advance visa-free travel between Antigua and China!
