Child struck by car

A four-year old child was hospitalised after being hit and dragged by a car Thursday afternoon between 3:00 and 4:00 PM.

The incident took place on Independence Avenue in the vicinity of Bike Plus. Sources confirmed to Antigua News Room (ANR) that traffic in both directions had stopped to let the little girl cross, while one driver overtook the standing vehicle in front of it and ran into the child. The female driver of  a Suzuki Vitara is in police custody assisting them with investigations.

The four year old has significant injury to one of her legs and bruises about her body.

  1. We have a lot of inpatient drivers in our society today that can’t wait and they are very inexperienced also it’s sad but if it’s true an example should be made so that drivers will think and be more cautious before they overtake

Sorry to hear about the child….this morning in the vicinity of North Sound going in the direction to the round about the driver of A 5504 (blue honda) overtook a number of vehicles that was going over the speed bump and came around the corner right by the bridge on the uncoming vehicle part…i asked myself if he had hit the car what would be his excuse?
