Chase Supermarket closed after 3 staff test positive for COVID-19

Chase Supermarket was closed today after three employees tested positive for COVID-19 sometime last week.

At least two of the three employees are said to be supervisory, and thus it is expected they would not have come into direct contact with customers.

Health Authorities say the employees were put on leave after testing positive.

  1. Hard to understand, other businesses closed when family members of staff were exposed, yet this business had actual staff test positive, last week!!! and remained open??
What happened to protocols on this outbreak?

  2. ‘put on leave after testing positive’ ???
    a) health authorities were proclaimed to be self isolating positive cases at Jolly Beach or other govt. facility
    b) have health authorities tested all chase staff & suppliers who had contact with the positive cases?
    c) have health authorities made a public announcement of the likely date window of infection & asked persons who had contact with supervisory staff at Chase to call the contact tracing unit?
    d) are employers not legally bound to pay the employee and treat this as a certified sick leave rather than unpaid vacation leave or some such thing?

  3. It is rumoured that another supermarket (Cost Pro) has 5 cases confirmed cases. However, they are choosing to remain open. This was said to me by a worker.
